So finally made it out and took a look around the river to see if I can put into use what I've been reading about understanding a river and voila.. These two beauties in the first half hour.
This dude was awesomely acrobatic. Fun catch.
I had a few other bites but non landed. But i think I learnt how to cast in a tight space and use weighted flies. Not bad for my second ever outting on the fly.

2 weeks ago I was just downstream of the bridge, only got 3 baby brooks but still lots of fun, and they were so beautiful. I also saw a big brown rising by the log but couldn't get it to take anything.nice man. beauty fish!

Yep! That was me! Walked past you a few times up river too. It's pretty cool how we randomly run into people off the forums.I believe I saw you. I was the guy on the bridge in the early morning that said Hi

We should plan something! It's only a 20 minute drive for me too and so much river to fish! I had no idea lol.

Ya for sure. I am always up for some company on the river. I am not sure you passed me at all. I didn't see a sole all day where I was

I picked up a new to me 7wt and an Okuma reel a week or so ago and decided to give it a test today but I had to switch the reel from right to left first. No big deal, right? Kinda. I switched the bearings easily enough and started to strip the line so I can spool it the correct way but for some strange reason I just pulled the line out and layed it ontop of itself on the floor. Really. Bad. Idea. Spent 2.5 hours untangling it. Had to cut some backing off but finally got it all fixed. I felt pretty stupid but I wasn't going to give up because I wanted to head out this morning.

Thanks all. Was a ton of fun. I'm finding i'm taking the fly rod more than the other rods that are in the trunk these days. So much easier for some reason.
