Brenda Burrows from FB posted this recently...

Here's a fish story for you! And pictures to prove that it isn't just a story.
For those of you who don't know where Turtle Lake is, it's a beautiful resort and lake in Northern Saskatchewan.....probably the biggest nearby center would be North Battleford.
No one will ever see me swim in Turtle Lake again!!

This is NOT a fish story !
It’s a new record Northern Pike in Canada. The man was fishing and caught a 36" Pike.
As he was reeling it in, a 56" - 55 lb. Pike tried to eat it !!!!! He landed them both in the same net! The last picture is unreal.

neat pix! .....but it seems fishy....plus it seems like his hand is in the gills, which we all know would leave him with several sliced fingers, even if it was dead!

There is absolutely no way of telling if he has his hand in it's gills....

It does seem fishy though, especially if it's been seen before, a lot of fish from across the pond are called "Canadian record fish".

I can't find it listed in any of the Hoax sites....it could be valid (goes back to 2007) But the stories all differ as to "where" it was caught.

I met a guy a couple years ago, and he claims he took the pictures himself.  A local guy from the Barrie area.  I definitely did not believe him, and this story always makes me laugh.  One day I'd like to hear the real story, but these other ones are good too.

When I see monster pike like that, I think of the saltwater pike in Europe. That's likely where this picture was taken.

This is an old story...this Pike wasn't caught in Canada and is not a Canadian Record.

It weighed just over 40lbs and was caught by Ewout Bloom in the Netherlands a few years back.

No where close to 55 lbs..
