Hi Guys

I'm a Newfie Living in Ottawa, :o( lol,  im usually back home every year by this time to fly fish salmon. this year don't look like im gonna make it :o(  but last night I heard about Salmon fishing in Port Hope ON. anyone here , fish in that area for Salmon? if so , is the run on now? :o)  any help would be greatly appreciated,, enjoy ya day, chow 4 now

well, you shouldn't name names but its almost always decent there when the fish are in, which they aren't right now, wait till mid august at least

sorry about the name,,  I thought I wasn't allowed to say RIVER name,,  just area,,  live and learn,, first timer here,,  do I need a special license for the salmon,,(besides Ontario fishing lic)?  and do the hooks have to be barbless?  is it fly fishing only? ..

Generall speaking, you can use any bait, and barbed hooks in most salmon rivers. There are some specific regs for some trout rivers(single barbless, artificial, no kill) and some steelhead rivers that are no kill. Get a copy of the Ontario regulations (online or usually can tire has paper copy ) and become familiar with the regs for the waters u plan to fish
