Looking to buy my first tying kit. I've been looking to the big box stores such Cabela's, BPS and even Le Baron and I would like a few inputs.

1. Are they worth it? Or should I just build up from scratch what I need.

2. I'll be tying from panfish, trout and even bass.

3. If I do build my own where should I start?

I've been reading a few reviews and searching the net for other kits available but I'm not too sure.

I am looking at the griffin odyssey spider at the moment.

Absolutely DO NOT buy a kit, they are usually filled with a lot of stuff that will never see use and a lot of it is usually sub par for quality. If you can come into SAIL (Vaughan) tomorrow or Monday and I'll set you up.

Are you in every Saturday? And that will be great. I'll pass by in a week or so won't have the time to go this weekend.

My schedule is part time so it moves a lot, I'll be in Saturday, Monday, and Thursday this week, then I'm off for a week. If you want to come in during the week I'll only be around 5-9:30.

I'll wait for a bit to busy this weekend and I work in the afternoons during the week. PM me when your back again. I was in SAIL today down here in Etobicoke first time in there. It was a very pleasant visit.

yea man stay away from the kits. youre only gonna use a few things very often and buying them seperate but of a higher quality is a better use of cash then buying a bunch of stuff you wont need at subpar box quality

and if chris here can hook you up in-store, all the better!

rivermaniac, did you go in to see Chris for this?

I'm curious what the initial investment is.. 2-300 maybe for vice, material, and whatever else you need??

I'll be in a lot this week and weekend, let me know if you're still interested and I'm sure we can work something out.
