please forgive my ignorance but aren't you supposed to fish 150ft below a dam or a fish barrier?

that stretch of water is barely known...i have to hike about half a km to reach that. a few hikers but i only see about 3 - 4 people fishing in 5 hours...mostly people who live in the area. that area is close now. and that white bucket couple didn't caught any and was able to save my backpack from floating downstream....i just felt i had to...

So I made my way down to the East Tribs for the last day of the season hoping to land some nice ones and try out my new Pin.

I arranged to meet with Brandon from Steelheadbeads.com to get some sample packs of beads since my order is crawling its way from the US.

As I went to do a Recce of the water I found this "Me No speak English"

20140930_130028_zpsovpm84ox.jpg

I kindly tell him he can't be standing in the water with boots trying to drop that into a Chinny's Mouth. The pic isn't the best, but it had4 hooks in total each weighed down with lead. Ignorant *** just turns away and continues to try to hook the fish as he stands over it. His loogan friend had one on  on  a 4ft rod with prolly 60lb test.....

Blood starts to boil.....I remove my wallet which contains my work ID and tell him to put it away............. FK people just dont care. ...

Anyways.. Brandon came down and set me up with the beads. I got a bunch of sampler packs. Hooked onto 3 lost them but still fun.  Very solid guy.

I think SteelheadBeads will be a great sponsor. Plus their stuff WORKS!!.. I went to another East Trib and first drift, fish, lost it.... Third drift... Fish..

I ended up changing my leader from 6lb flouro to 10lb mono.. I use the improved clinch knot.. Not sure if thats the issue.. ..

Anyways..

nice job Paul! glad brandon was to meet up with you, that family is known for being stand up people.  also happy to see you got into some fish right away with the beads!

and in the pic.....i can't help but scream keep the hands off the blank!  fastest way to break your rod, if you need some leverage, put your free hand on the bottom of the rod handle.

Is that bend in a closed area now?  I thought it was below the CNR tracks it's good to go.  I remember fishing there with tons of people into october at that spot.  I assumed it was open because generally most tribs are open from CNR and down.  Every fisherman I asked about it several times last year assured me it was open there.

If anyone knows for sure please let me know!  I have only fished there early sept this year, not planning to go again but I would still like to know

There is an extended season, on the eastern tribs this season includes water below hwy 2/kingston road. This season extends to dec 31 and then will start the sesason below the CN tracks... Read your regs and know the areas you fish, no need to ever have to question if an area is open.

Thanks, that's what I thought, was just confused because Paul1913's post referred to the " last day of the season"

I'm guessing it's normal that my right arm / shoulder feels like it was subjected to hours of self torture.. What a work out. I still feel it.

you might need to change back to fluoro leader for that. or downsize your mono laeder to 4-6lbs.

I have to figure out the reason the 6lb fluoro was snapping off so easily.

I have to figure out the reason the 6lb fluoro was snapping off so easily.

fluoro has weak stretch and usually breaks on the knot because of this. mono has good stretch and helps you when playing with the salmon.
