Oh man chrome. Nice fish. I had one on today like that and broke off. Raged and left after cause my fly got snagged in a tree and broke my leader off after I tried for another cast after I lost it

People never seem to realize it but IMO this is the best time of year for steelhead, no one targets them and they're quite aggressive. Nice one there Kit!

I thought trout and salmon are targeted the same way?   The only difference for me is the weight of my line and rod.... then again, I am a complete novice...havent been out yet and I'm definitely a salmon virg

Can you explain?

difference in meaning everyone targets the big salmon up front, but fail to notice the smaller trout darting around behind the salmon, watch a pool closely, you'll see them, spotted a nice brown the other day up behind a hen in the east

Yeah the smaller ones usually run with the salmon to snatch up eggs from the hens. Browns are pretty famous for this. Steel not so much but they do follow as well.

Shmog told me a story he was using chinny roe and a brown came across the river from sitting along the other side just to hit that bag he was drifting. Shows how much they love it and how competitive they can be.
