ive heard some pretty crazy things to use as bait. including spoons, xraps. but i dont fly fish. and i dont know whats good to fish for salmon with this year. ive heard about people using shrimp. but is that legit?

jk. (well some people actually use these)
Spinners, Quickfish, Rapala J-13's, small crank baits are all good. Not sure about shrimp, have never seen anyone using them.

Ear plugs, marshmallows, cigarette buts, you will see and hear all sorts of crazy things.
All manner of lures will work, jigs, flies, roe, skein, and even worms.

in all seriousness. anything in their face can elicit an "attack" response. they arent really feeding but they are aggressive as all hell.
its fun sometimes just watching a pool of 3 males fighting each other for the right to stay beside the one hen in the mix
when they are beating each other up like this even a tiny lure can receive a pissed of "i want to kill that thing!" bite
