2 hooks on a line

legal but don't be "that" guy. what if you catch a fish on hook 2 and get snagged on hook 1? I've tried 2 hooks but have had equal success but go for it if you think it'll increase your catch rate
 
What is 'THAT' guy. I commonly use a dual hook set up with a nymph and a dropper with another nymph, bead, or bugger when fishing for Steelhead. This is a commonly used and accepted set up and absolutely nothing wrong or un-ethical about it.

Been seeing and reading alot about this setup recently. Seems to be the go-to method. If you can offer two presentations in one shot and target two different depths, why not?
 
Normal to use a tandem rig (2 hooks). I have a bead on the first and 1.5' fly or roe sac on the end hook. Some consider it lining. I don't know why. I usually get fish on the first hook (bead). I prefer this more than just running a shot line. you get 2 different menus to offer. win-win.

Yeah, what is "THAT" guy? I've used the tandem rig for 2-3 years now with bead head nymph up top and bead, roe or worm on bottom and NOT once have I got snagged with other hook while having a fish on or foul hooked a steelhead.

I've seen guys use 2 trebles with foam on them, I'm aware of using a fly u top and a bead or whatever you want on the lower one but I've never seen 2 hooks with roe that didn't involve snagging
 
I guess I will really be 'THAT GUY' if I am employ some euro nymph techniques with 3 nymph rigs this fall

Not exactly true. What about rapalas and such that use multiple treble hooks
 
Just asking. and besides it takes the fun out of fishing. I don't fish for food. Only C & R.

In speaking of C & R. I only keep a female for roes for the next three seasons.

Do you C & R?
 
The topic was not about lures but how many hooks can be used on 1 line. The only reason a single and a treble hook are ok is because the treble hook is used behind the single hook as a stinger hook. And I need to correct myself. It is 3 single hooks or 1 single and 1 treble.
 
4 hooks per line. A treble is considered one hook. Its used to be a single and a treble if it wasn't a lure, but thats no longer the case. We used to have to put a tiny spinner blade on our musky/ pike quick-strike rigs to make it a "lure" but dont have to anymore

no, a treble is considered a multi pointed hook, not as 3 separate hooks, as per page 12 of the regulations books, the number of single or multi pointed hooks allowed per line is 4
