i wasnt the only one who likes that color,,,, hmmmmmmm,,,,,, i remembered a couple of years back when funds were so tight that my only option was to go around the east tribs with my pink jansport bag, everybody has that weird look on their faces when they see a full grown man pop out of the bush with a pin an a pink bag, some immature kids would laugh and make jokes but i didnt care about that all the fish on the end of my line do the talking! LOL!!!!! Hahahahaha!!!! Says the guy with a pink bag all patched up with fishing decals! LOL!!!!Buy both
I thought about buying a used pink Islander.
The only reason why I didn't pull the trigger was it had someone's name engraved on it.
I like pink

yes! you made a great choice! all i can say is the tolerance are tight on kingpins! so dont drop it in the river! like i did! little tiny particles or should i say zilts! can actually can create a grinding noise as if you dropped it in the sand! the only water that should touch your kingpin is rain or water tap!

Doesn't seem to take much to gum up a KP. On the other hand I got all kinds of sand and crap in my islander and it would normally take me under a minute to get it running fine again. One time I accidentally totally submerged it on a -15 day, all the water instantly tuned to ice. I had it cleaned out in no time and a couple drifts to work the ice out of the bearing and it was running great.
I do like the King pins but when I buy fishing stuff I will when possible choose something built in Canada. I would much rather support by local shop or custom reel builder over an overseas company.

I have an Okuma Sirata an Islander and a KP Sovereign and they're all great reels the only issue I have is with the KP, it's impossible to take apart @fishergirl that might be the only issue you encounter. I hear that all KPs have this issue, any tips from KP owners on how to take it apart without damage?

I always do this to my friends. Whenever they ask if it's a good deal, I'd say, best deal as far as I know. And as soon as they got it. I'm like. Dude...I won't buy it if you point a gun at me.....lol.
