I,ve seen people get punched in the face literally and then wonder why or i seen one guy thrown in the river

I also know alot of fisherman who wont go to certain rivers due to asses

Thats pretty normal - you either take it, speak up or leave.  Too many losers around who just don't care... sad really

I don't know, I've been fishing there the past 3 years and this year seems just like the last two as far as crowds and loogans

Its the easiest spot on the river to fish without waders, and its a good stretch of water. It doesnt seem to have any more or any less pressure then previous years

I dont care if someone takes my spot, really. As long as they are respectful, while casting and with regards to personal space. It's no ones spot guys, you just happen to have gotten there first. What is this, grade school allover again? There are only so many "spots" at the popular rivers that really its impossible to have them all to yourselves. I enjoy the conversations I had with fellow anglers who decide to fish next to me. Like I said, I think that the only time to get upset about it is if the person who joins is being disrespectful and not sharing in the proper way.

im in a same way! and always lucky that the person fish right beside me was always a decent person! theyre not shy on sharing some of their knowledge and some of their fishing spot! so far so good here!

I don't know where all these guys go to fish, but maybe time to find some new spots. I might run into the odd guy now and then where I go,  but none of this sh-t.

In these situations, I tend to just move on, if the other fishermen  are not willing to respect some ones personnel space they are not fishermen I want to deal with. You never know if you move on you could find that "new" sweet spot.

Depends if they give you space or they want to grab your ass... I had a guy cross right over my rod with his line then hit my RV9 with his rod, asked if he could swim, then he tells me to calm down, I told him there is certain etiquette to be followed. Better to just pull out my honking big knife, pick my teeth with it and say, you sure got a purty mouth...

Looking back I've never really had a problem with other people except for this one time when a couple guys took my spot while I was fighting a fish. I was kind of pissed that they took my spot like that without even asking, but mostly at the reality that steelheaders act so desperate for the chance to catch a single fish. I think it's important to position yourself in a way that you can still fish effectively if other people decide to come right beside you.

Recent encounter at this location was with a lady walking her dog. I was fishing the pool by myself and the lady comes up to me and says I am letting my dogs off the leash to swim for a few minutes. I thought she could have asked, instead of just telling me she was going to let her dog in. Maybe she encountered push back before and was being rude because of that but whatever, I took my line out of the water so it didn't hook her dog. 

 

While her dogs are swimming in the pool I'm getting ready to move because the dogs would obviously spook anything in the water. as I am securing my line to my rod and locking my pin she comes over and asks if I am fishing for trout. I was quick to the point that I was and she asks if any where in the pool. I said probably not anymore. She then asked why, and I said they usually don't like dogs too much. As much as this sounds sarcastic, I really was mild mannered, annoyed but again not being rude. 

 

She proceeds to flip out, you need to share the water, your fisherman are all the same, I will let me dog swim if he wants to swim. So much anger, I am just looking at her she is yelling and spitting and obviously looking for an argument. I just look at her until she stops, she is breathing heavy, visibly upset, catching her breath, one of her dogs in actually sitting beside me and I'm scratching his head with my free hand. 

 

I wait for a few more seconds and in a calm tone let her know how nasty and unattractive her attitude is, how I took my line of the water with no push back and how I never complained that her dogs where off the leash when in reality some people would freak out as they are afraid of dogs. I told her the water is supposed to be a peaceful place and her attitude ruined it for me, not her dogs, so I was leaving in reality I just fished a few pools down. 

 

Its not always anglers that cause issues on the river bank hopefully she now realizes that.

 If it was the lady with a golden retriever, she's a cool local lady.  Told me enough info about number of anglers on her walking path, tells me if anyone up or down river from me has caught anything.  She's never let her dog jump into pools while I was fishing, but if she did, I wouldn't get annoyed in any way.  She probably honestly lives 2 mins from there as I see her every other time I'm there.  

 

I never got any bad vibes from her, but I can see how she might get offended by some sport fisherman's attitudes.  You have to understand it from the local's perspective, people park in front of their houses day after day and trash their beautiful parks and leave dead fish on the banks.  

 

As a fishermen, I'd say to avoid spots like that if you are bothered by locals (please respect them) or loogans (respect is optional lol).  Most guys have waders, so it's not hard to move to a spot on the river that locals and lesser loogans can't get to.  And if the crowds and hoopla still bother you, then you probably shouldn't be fishing on such a popular trib.

A simple, " Hey do you mind pulling your line out of the water while my dog cools off for a bit or takes a quick swim" isn't too much to ask. If her dog was in the water, and I came to fish, I wouldn't walk into that situation and pitch my hook in the water until the dog was out without asking and I would have a little common courtesy doing it. 

 

I am actually a "local" in the area and if someone parks in front of my house, its not my property, all of the power to them. If they litter they will hear about it it whether they are on the water in my view or elsewhere as litter sucks anywhere, but I don't think it was the same lady as she seemed genuinely unpleasant overall. 

 

Not bothered by locals, just rude people in general whether its an angler or passerby.

Good point about the dog being on a leash.   She was the one breaking the rules.  So glad my pup only wades and doesnt swim.

I used to deal with the BS but knowing what I know now there are fish in more than just the spots you see photos online.

 

If someone comes up to me, I start wide casting (will even hit the guy with my rod) and I start hero drifting hard. And if he crosses the line (pun intended rofl) then I give him the business. A good hook set that just happens to hit buddy might happen too. GTFO bud. There is no need for being that close. I will only synchronize fish with buddies plain and simple. Who ever is at a spot first "owns" it. Respect the fact someone is there before you and don't be a knob drifting their exact spot.

 

EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM If you want a spot that badly, get up earlier and be the first guy to the hole.
