Anyone been out on the ice near Bancroft recently? Heading up to the cottage tomorrow morning for the first time this winter. Have been watching the weather forecast last week and looked like they received the same warm weather/rain as we did in the city, however the nights were cold.

 

Any updates would be great, going to take fishing gear just incase and plan to walk on (if possible)

Depending on the size of your lake you should be fine, we were on the ice a couple 3 weeks ago in that general area on 4-6 inches of black. 

 

Be sure to exercise precautions though; dont go out alone and make sure to bring rope in the possible worse case event. Floater suits are a must in my opinion this time of year.

From my understanding Bancroft area small lakes are good and with this cold weather should of tightened up nice - I haven't been myself and this is what I hear, stay safe

If you don't know the lake be cautious , don't travel alone ,always talk to locals .

8-10 inches in the muskoka area so bancroft should be fine, haven't been out personally though, was in minden 2 weeks ago and there was 4 1/2.

Cut hole in cottage lake and other mid-sized lake North of bancroft. 7-8" of black ice, sleds were out all day.

Has been snowing all day, 6-7" total - I didn't bring the sleds, wish I had of!
