The shows are not just about tackle deals. Great informative seminars that you can pick up the odd tip from. The manufacturer booths are there and you can get excellent accurate advice personalized to your tackle questions. Own a Shimano reel and trying to decide whether to buy a Gloomis rod or a StCroix rod to pair it to. Both manufactures are there and can answer your questions as technical as you can make them. There are also fishing pros that attend that circulate around and you can meet and talk to. The fishing community as a whole are represented and its a chance to talk to them one on one. The MNR enforcement branch is there....I know you have questions and feedback for them. OMNRF are stocking brown trout in a new area in the GTA they haven't before learn about it. TRCA has done habitat and shoreline reconstruction in several areas this fall which will impact the species that use these areas...learn about it. There is a Recreational Fisheries Plan Meeting Feb 10 at the Ripleys Aquarium. Attend the show and read the plan before the meetings so that you have your questions ready for the speakers of the Feb 10 meeting. Being active in the fishing community puts the future of fishing in your hands rather than the politicians. Fishing was banned in the GTA in 2012 because we were not vigilant. Restoring fishing rights and removing the ban was a nightmare. Last week it was announced that it would be banned on a section of GTA tributary in 2016. TUFA / MNR and TRCA notified the politicians of their mistake and it was fixed before it was unfixable. To protect and better recreational fishing you need to be engaged in some manner. The forums are great but it does help to meet face to face a few times a year and share news , knowledge and experiences. Hope you will attend a show over the next two weeks and support the sport that you are so very passionate about.

I won't be able to make it on thursday but I'll be there Fri-Sunday.
Give us a report if you end up going. I'll do the same on Friday.
Work destroyed the only opportunity I had to go. Spring fishing show it is. Hope I'm not going to miss too much. Enjoy for those who go!

Did anybody make any good buys down at the sportsman show? Didn't end up making it down but just wondering how it was or if there was any good deals!

Bought a smartfish and a spoon. Went to the Rapala booth and got 4 free Rapala Army X-Raps, gave 1 to PUMP KNOWS (I think the guy owns 3 now?), the other 3 to random people.

First I just wanna thank @Tangledline for having me part of the [post='http://torontourbanf...he TUFA booth.
This was my second time I've attended the sportsmens show and I noticed there was a lot less vendors this year compared to last year. It looked like everything was spaced out. Also this year they didn't have a fly fishing section, all the fly stuff was scattered around. On the last day and on the last 20mins, I found out that the New Fly Fisher had a booth and Bill Spicer was there. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to check out their booth and talk with Bill. They were already packing up when I got there. One of the seminars that I did attend was from Grand River Troutfitters Ken Collins. I did manage to film his seminar, if people are interested I can post it later.
Overall I did a lot of seminar watching, booth hoping, less shopping, having fun and looking for promo stuff.
I'll post some more stuff tomorrow.

Thanks...haha.
I wanted to get a smartfish but I didn't to pay retail for it. Maybe I'll get one during the Fishing show this weekend.

I didn't see anything that I really wanted and the sales were ok at best. They might have had some good deals on some items but nothing stood out when I looked.
