How do you think you get a Tiger Musky?
Good point.
I have to sound in and altho there arent many pike. They are there and have been for years.
Not sure why they dont thrive there, but they are there.

I know how you get tigers, however, they were stocked there. there are successful tiger musky stocking programs all over north america

I never heard of them stocking there. I am sure there is info on that somewhere.

I've caught pike in Canal lake, Mitchell lake and Balsam lake all within the last 4-5 years never used to see pike in there 20 years ago, I guess I see a trend there, so there's no reason for me to believe that they wouldn't be in Lake Scugog...after all those lakes are all connected

they've been in balsam lake for a long time now, people were catching 40" pike in 2009

Ha ha ha, who knew this would be such a hot topic? lol When I went the other day, the weather was pretty unfavourable (extremely windy and cold) and I didn't bother targeting Pike, so I didn't see any pike or musky; only a few panfish and one 20lb carp.
Honestly after seeing the lake, I would and wouldn't be surprised to see pike in there. I would think the lake too shallow for pike to do very well, but at the same time, I've fished other bodies on the Trent-Severn system and caught lots of pike so I have to imagine they can make it in there (spawn sticking to waterfowl, people being dicks and dumping them in there). I would really rather that Pike were kept out to make sure the musky pop stays healthy, buuuuuut i'm pretty cynical sooooooo; time will tell I guess)

40" that's an old fish, if it was born in Balsam that means that pike were already there in the mid 80's

That could and may not be true. I know the NGTA Bass Club hosts a tournament on balsam for pike the 2nd Saturday in May every year. This year was a big year for them and lots of 35 inch fish and bigger were caught.
