Hi I'm from the KW area. I like to try new things and not afraid to get my hands dirty...so after talking with a buddy I got excited and went out and I bought my first rod, licence and started to fish this weekend. Went to a few spots in the GR area and Guelph, but came home with nothing. Anybody have any good pointer, spots for a beginner like me. At this point I just want to catch a fish....Anything besides seaweed!! 😜

Is GR Grand River? If so you are in the rite area.
Remember that patience is a virtue.
Altho I pitch every type of lure there is, I still say nothing beats a worm or minnow hanging beneath a float. That is my go to every time.
Welcome to the forum its a good place to talk and learn.
Good luck, be patient, the fish will find you. They always find me.

Thanks for the welcome! Yes Alfie grand river...I bought worms and looking into the minnows. I'm trying to be patience but too excited and eager to learn as much as I could.

I'm not sure yet what I'm into Smogley I've always had interest in fishing but never got into it until last week. I didn't think I would like it as much as I'm enjoying it now. Yes I went to a local store earlier and got talking with the owner and he was very helpful. Thanks I will keep that you in mind

I know the eagerness Newgirl. Have felt it many times.
Patience is sitting by the water, enjoying the nature around you and with any luck a few fish will come to visit.
Enjoy ur time on the water. It is one of the best times of our lives.

Howdy - we all started by drowning worms.  Don't get discouraged is all I can say, fishing can be a huge learning curve and with all the information on the internet, it can be quite overwhelming.  Move around and if someone around you in catching, copy them!
