Went out for my second time fly fishing yesterday and I had an absolute blast. I caught three small brown trout with a 5 wt rod, It felt like they put up a fight! Starting to really love fly fishing and the beautiful fish you get to see.

Nice! I have the exact same combo and I caught m first rainbow on it recently!
My spool broke pretty quickly after I bought, the drag does not engage anymore, but I replaced that quickly and haven't looked back, rod still fishes amazingly!

Yea it's served me great and I hope over the next few years I'll have more Rods to choose from! Thanks.

I just love the idea of the skill and knowledge needed to catch fish in fly fishing. There are so many ore variables compared to spin fishing.

Nice work for second time out! Certainly took me a while longer to land first brown on the fly.
I'm in the market myself for a lighter trout rod. Been making due with an 8 weight and it does the job for steelhead and bass but not cutting it on the smaller tribs. How do you like your combo and where did you pick it up?
Any input out there on benefits of a 3 vs 5 weight, or perhaps 4 is the compromise? Mostly fishing west tribs and some GB tribs.
