I'm a beginner fisherman for steelhead/salmon, and I have been using an ugly stick rod with a pfluger supreme reel for ALL of the fishing I've been doing in the past year. Now that I understand the basics of steelhead fishing either with a float, bottom bouncing, or using lures, I am looking to get a new longer rod for fishing. I have lost quite my share of fish and I think a lot of it is due to my small 6'7 rod.
I'm looking to get a new rod for my spinning reel that would be good for float fishing small creeks, but also bottom bouncing or casting at places such as Niagara.
My price limit would be $200 and under..
Or should I get two rods? One 9' rod for casting and bottom bouncing, and a longer rod for float fishing?
Any advice or input would be appreciated
Thanks!

Get yourself a streamside tranquility. price is about $149. depending where you are. Al flaherty's downtown or gagnon sports in durham carries them.

Try the Browning Six River series from Bass Pro. Not badly priced they come in different lengths and they can take a beating.

I just picked up the 9'6" Okuma SST. I like it.^Im looking at the Okuma sst 10'6 ML 6-12. Looks like a good choice for all types of Steelie fishing, what do you guys think?
