69bec41f903ef7b645514e7461c101b8.jpg I caught this 80 pounder in Thailand last month. Giant Mekong Catfish.

Biggest fish I ever caught. It took over 30 minutes to land it. My arms were shaking when I was done.

Not sure where you are, but they do get big in this area. Lake O, Lake E and Grand River. Up to 20+ lbs.
Cut bait, minnows.
Forget the trebles. Gamagatsu circle hooks. Cats like to pick up bait and swim, many are lost to premature hook sets. Let them take your bait and swim, be patient and they will hook themselves on a circle hook. Then it's game on. They are fantastic fighters. No jumps, but strong runs, power and headshakes.

Alfie.

i fishing subury ont in lake neppawsi and all over subury the only cats i found where brown bulled head and the biggest i caught 5lb i use terble because the work great with dough baits

I have a trip booked on the grand for some Cats in April. Its a guided trip that I won in a charity auction. I have the guides contact info if anyone is interested? He seems very reasonable and is a super nice guy. I can't wait to get out there

I live on Lake Erie , western basin. I usually fish for cat's in July and August in front of my home. There are a lot of Channel Cats around at that time of the year. Only ever used worms . On a good evening I could catch 4 or 5,  6-7 lb fish. My best night I caught 13 , largest was a 12 lb.

I have not fished for them in the last few years, but evening always seemed the best time.
