Boys and I did some scouting of locations to check out how pools,runs, log jams and what not are happening for opening weekend. Well we saw lots of fish, lots of places to try out, lots of new structure and three guys fishing a pool way above the CN tracks. Told them, and said I would not hesitate to call ministry. they said thanks for letting us know and started to pack up. We left but decided to do a loop around and sure enough they where right back at the pool. Ministry was called this time.

Very Nice.. Im not sure where you are but sometimes a call to the local PD could be good since it could be a while before they respond. I know in Port Hope has trained one guy per platoon to specialize in Fish Regulations.
Good on ya for calling them. Did you stick around for them to show up?

No but I had a licienc plate and the lady I got ahold of said we didn't need to wait as CO was enroute and knew exactly where I was calling from.

It feels funny reporting, not sure why but I'm not letting these guys get away any more I was quiet enough during Salmon not any more.

Never feel guilty they know exactly what their doing.

I always give guys a warning because when I started out I wasn't familiar with the area and thought the boundary was the 401, Some chill guy came and told me and from there I started to be more careful. Its nice of you to have given them a warning but they were ignorant and hopefully got a ticket! I have the mnr as a contact on my phone lmao

You did everything right.
Inform, Double take and report. I know it's tempting to confront people like this but always err on the side of caution and let authorities handle it. I know a lot of people would say, CO's don't show up. They actually do. Just do your part. Well done.

Although people do make 'innocent' mistakes there is really no excuse for ignorance of the regulations. As you have shown, we all have a role to play in protecting our fishery, well done!

I don't know if I will get a response but I saw on the FMZ 17 page that South of the CNR is open for trout all year in the Durham region.. Is that true?

There are definitely open areas as laid out in the regulations! Just read carefully and consult the map. If you need specific clarification, you can contact MNR. Good luck!
