Hello everyone! I just recently picked up a fly rod for myself (5WT Reddington Path Outfit) and headed out to a trib in the Ajax area I heard can be productive for trout. I only managed to land a few chubs and was wondering if anyone could recommend some flies for the area? I tried to look around the web but there's very little info on this part of the trib! Is stealth a major factor? I've been using small elk hair caddis dries with a copper john nymph, have yet to try streamers. Any info helps! Thank you.

try stoneflies, size 8 this time of year, yellow, olive and black, hendricksons dry flies, mosquito dries, prince nymphs, hares ears in same colours. you can add small streamers now that there are minnows hatching

There are mostly dropback in the Ajax section of that trib right now. I would use particularly wooly buggers (most productive this week), duns, glo bugs or beads. I put glo bugs & beads last as there are so many suckers right now and would go for those 2. my friend landed a nice resi brown on a clouser last monday. I'd say work those dry flies up north of the trib as there are better chances on resis up there.

Went out Friday morning and did pretty well with small stone fly black nymphs and brown pheasant tails. Landed 2 nice 8-9 inch brookies and quite a few small brown and brook trout, they were hanging out in some super small pocket water. Thanks for the advice guys!
