Hey everyone, I've recently moved to Ontario and I was wondering if there was any good fishing spots that I could camp at. It would be cool if I could rent a boat there or even rent a kayak. All I want is some nice wilderness and some good fishing! Thanks guys! Edit: I heard deerock lake was a great spot but I've been reading online that's it's super populated now so idk

I would say anywhere in Algonquin park depending how remote you want to be at.

Not sure if you can rent there but maybe rent before and bring it up if you can.

There's a place called Alpine Resort, on the south side of Rice Lake.  I know they have a spot on their property, adjacent to their cottages, that they'll rent out as a tent site.  You're definitely NOT out in the woods - but you are concealed from the cottages by a line of Evergreen trees.

Their boat rental price for a 14' Fiberglass boat, with a 9.9HP motor are $100 for the day.  Not sure what they charge for the camping lot - probably not much.  They have a Facebook page - I've always used their Facebook page to set up my boat rentals.

Here are a couple of links that should help you out if you are interested in going to Algonquin Park for some R&R.

Those two should get you as good start.

1) How far are you willing to drive? And where do you live?

2) Define 'wilderness'. Back country, or just secluded enough to not be full of people? You can find provincial parks that surround entire lakes, and are therefore quiet. There are others that border on large lakes that you share with cottagers. If you go for the former, many do not allow powerboats. Many have canoe rentals. Check out the official site for information: http://www.ontarioparks.com/ For private campgrounds and resorts, you'll have to spend much more time on research.

3) Define 'good fishing'. Numbers? Sizes? Numbers of species? For instance: One of my favourite places is Killarney Provincial Park. George Lake is excellent for smallmouth, so-so for panfish, lake trout are currently off limits, and... well, that's all I've ever caught there. So you can have your fill of smallmouth all day, and some good size ones, but won't find pike, walleye, largemouth, catfish, etc.

Let us have some more info on your desires, and we can narrow our answers.
