I'm looking for some good lmb, smb locations around Hamilton to oakville area and I was thinking about trying Christie Lake conservation but somewhere I read that they apparently drain the lake annually. So has anybody fished it recently?

Wow, just signed up here today and fished there yesterday!

It has Largemouth and TONS of catfish.  I pulled in about a dozen cats before I gave up looking for bass.  There were lots of baby largemouth near the shorelines, so they are in there - just no luck for me yesterday.  The used to stock the ponds but they are decommissioned.  Down by the marina you can walk to a few areas and I hear the dam is good.  Wanna try Valens next (just got a conservation pass).  Let me know how it goes for you, good luck!

Thanks, I'm really not too keen on catfish unfortunately!
However I did go to valens today at 6 am and 2 guys pulled in 2 chunky bass throughout the whole time and I don't believe anything else was caught, it has some good bass locations though!
I was with 5 other people and none of us managed to bring any in.
Now I'm wondering if I should just go back to valens tomorrow or stick to Christie

Yeah after yesterday I wasn't keen on catfish anymore either!  I think you have to know the lake (depth areas) or try by the dam (which I did not).  I was only fishing jig/ dropshot ... with some decent lures/ spinners you might avoid the cats and haul in a decent LMB.  Im bad with lure selection/ use but hope to find advice on this forum and intend to use crankbaits and spoons more throughout the summer.  The one thing I liked about Christie is you can find a lot of downed trees and weedbeds (even without a boat).  You're out at a better time than I was too (1-5pm) so you might have better luck.  Schools of baby LMB by the shorelines, gotta be some monsters out there.  Let me know!

I have a boat too so maybe I will try out Christie, I more so use Texas rigged worms, crawfish or I'll use a swimbait hook on a paddle tail, I don't really have any luck on spoons, spinners, cranks.

I didn't end up going to Christie, I am still debating on it, I need more on it, seems like every place I go I'm disappointed lol. According to lots of reviews though I did find a place that seems promising called fairy Lake so I might check that out when I get time. Probably Monday
