Drop shotting is great on shore or on boat. Too much variety of styles to catch them small mouth. I like tossing spinners on logjams but it gets too expensive. My personal best was caught on a flicker shad.

River smallies on dry flies is a blast! But even swinging big streamers can produce some amazing fish. When it comes to spinning gear, finesse baits on a drop shot rig always provides a good time for me. For the longest time in the Ottawa valley I was catching river small mouth on crappie tube jigs and it was non stop action! Whether you worked it across the bottom in slower water or just swung it across some nice riffles, the things seemed to always produce! Then someone sold me a fly rod and life was never the same...
