HI! A family friend of ours has a pond on their property with some pretty big fish in it! There have been fish caught there before but not to many. Whenever I go fishing there I end up skunked every time. It's not the lack of fish in the pond though. There are tons of bass and other species of fish there you can see making blow ups on the surface and feeding close to shore but I can never seem to pull anything out of there. :???: Does anyone have any tips or pieces of advice that would help me because I've tried almost everything, even live minnows and worms. Any response is appreciated! Thank you!

You should try and see whats in the pond for these fish to feed on, try and match that. Try throwing around fallen stumps or random that go down in depth suddenly and unexpectedly. Bass are ambush predators.

Goodluck!

Try some top water lures in the evening or early morning, poppers just twitch the rod and make em pop , when you cast let it sit for a couple secs then twitch and twitch, again then stop, and usually bass can't resist they'll explode on it , so much fun

How big is the pond? If it's a smaller pond I would recommend using a go pro if u got one to check the surroundings underwater. Perhaps it just a matter of depth or the wrong casting area. Look for shelter and keep trying and if all else fails buy a harpoon and go spear fishing. Lol

Thanks for the feedback guys, the pond is about 20 feet deep and I have tried Poppers but no luck. The fish usually feed on small bugs on the top of the water and the odd sunfish.

Drop a white senko and let it slowly drop flat....if nothing bites before it reaches bottom...then it's not bass

No, there are bass here guaranteed. Just because they don't bite doesn't mean bass aren't in the pond. There have been bass caught there before (not by me of course) and you see their heads break the water one in a while.

20' deep, wow! Sounds fun.

Try stirring them up a bit. Depending on the vegetation growth this late in the summer tie on on a Bandit 100 series (2-5' crank depth). If the veg is not so bad then up your crank game to a 200 series (4-8' crank depth). I have confidence in my 1/4oz Big O at landing Bass which is equivalent to the Bandit 100.

Bring the noize! Fish on.

I'll chime in likewise to DD and bhark - let me come solve the mystery of the fish.

I'd be more than happy to help you catch some in person :D

In that case, you have enough tools now to get them. Lots of suggestions that works. Big O, Bandit, Senko and of course some offers to help you solve the mystery by inspecting the pond themselves.

I'm kind of surprised nobody suggested real earth worms. Senkos do get crazy strikes but not as many as good ol' live bait! Maybe it's just me.

Senko doesn't really just mimic worms. It can also mimic a dying minnow.

use white on murky or clear water. red & pumpkin are killers as well. You will never know until you tried it.

I was just down there yesterday and managed to get a strike on and texas rigged crawfish, did not get the hookset but it's good to know I'm getting closer! Thanks again for the massive feedback on this thread! And as for the Bear, DD, and bhark I would love to have you guys come down to the pond with me but as of right now, the owners of the pond only want people they know personally fishing there :???: . Sorry, but thanks anyways!

Try a zoom horny toad. You can work it accross and thruogh cover. Or in the open water retrieve on surface, legs flutter . Let sink and jerk it or swim it as well.
