Hey folks, planning to go visit Mountsberg one of these days.  I hear there's parking near the boat launch, do I need to have change for that?  Just planning ahead, trying to avoid driving all the way there just to find out there's nowhere to park.  Anything else I need to know about the place?  Planning to go out on a small boat with a trolling motor, try for pike or whatever else is there.

this is from their website:

Mountsberg is home to a 202-hectare water control reservoir on Bronte Creek. Visitors can access the reservoir for fishing from two locations with varying levels of amenities.

The park doesn’t have a boat launch, but small watercraft can be launched from shore and shore fishing is permitted. Visitors may also enjoy other amenities such as the Mountsberg Raptor Centre, Cameron Farm Yard, Play Barn, washrooms and gift shop.

The Mountsberg Dam is accessed through an alternate entrance, and this area offers the best reservoir for fishing and launching of non-motorized boats. Located on Concession Rd. 14 E in Hamilton, the Dam offers a parking lot, boat launch and outhouse. Self-serve fee station in effect.

Let me know how you do if you head out.  I've never caught a crappie in my life and this place seems like one of the only options in Halton for crappie (haven't found the other places yet!)

I don't know, I'll be targeting pike, will see how I do when I go.  Never caught a crappie in my life too, but then again I've only started fishing not long ago.

Some people tend to have problems with trolling motors in certain parts of the lake. The weeds can get pretty thick, so as long as you avoid those areas its pretty easy to get around the whole body of water. Whenever i fish it i usually just use a canoe to ease the frustration of the weeds. As for parking, you will want to park on the west side of the waterbody, as that,s where the "boat launch" is. Paying runs on an honour system, i think it is 5-7 dollars, you just put that in an envelope and drop it in the slot with your license plate number on it.

But plenty of parking, no worries there. Its a dead end road that leads to the west side of the water, pretty simple to find. \

hope that helps.

Thanks guys, went there yesterday.  Lots of weeds everywhere, essentially limiting the lures I could use.  Caught a 26 inch pike and two smaller ones.  Also a very tiny little bass.  All on wake lures.  I wonder what else could work, I've never fished so heavily weeded area before.   Oh, and parking is 7.50 / person, gotta have cash.

7.50 a person but if you go to the dam side its a $12 vehicle maximum. I like to go with a couple buddies, cuts your cost in half.
