you're right! thats a wild atlantic! adipose fin is intact

I'm not sure if ats are clipped or not. Chinnies and bows are not. There are also other projects where fertilized eggs are placed in the streambed. Chances of it being a completely wild tic are slim to none

On our side (huron) we catch the odd atlantic in the lake that have pectoral fin clips, I wasn't sure which fins they might clip in Lake O... can't see the right pectoral from the pic.

I checked for tags and fins being clipped and all fins were there and no tags were found.

I've caught a lot of juvenile Atlantics in headwater sections that do not have any fin clipped. No fin clipping doesn't necessarily mean wild.

But it is very awesome to see a mature Atlantic return. We need more of them!!!

Do they clip the adipose fin on these atlantics? In the grand river the stockies have pretty ragged pectoral fins for the first year or so, but the adipose fins are left intact. And they're stocked at approximately 16 months of age.

I don't believe they stock ats in the grand.
There are at least 3 groups plus mnrf that raise tics so who knows if they're all clipping or not. Plus like I said there are umpteen amounts of fertilized eggs planted on different headwaters. If it is a truly wild bred atlantic you best go buy a lottery ticket.

Anyway I'm done with that. It is a beauty of a fish fo sho

Wild or not, this was the most amazing fish I have caught. Fight was incredible, pure power and jumps like a steelhead. Not to mention how beautiful it is.
