I went out on Saturday and headed out to the Guelph area.  The waters were REALLY muddy, water level was a little higher than normal, and moving a little faster than usual.  Needless to say I got skunked!

Blah......

You would have better luck with centerpinner style gear. I am into fly fishing where appropriate and would agree ot is great fun. Sometimes easier to get fish with bobber righy in a smooth drift

Don't give in to pickles. Try twitching streamers in the slower water.

I was planning on hitting up the Grand until Thursday, but that flood brought up Shand Dam discharge way too much. Try again mid week and I'm sure it will be a very different experience ;)

Same. I hit a small trib late Sunday, expecting the water to be a little slower and clearer. Nope!

That's the plan :)  Looks like Friday's the day.  Fingers crossed it goes a little better!

I had my first experience with steelheads in a tributary! You can probably imagine my excitement, I almost didn't sleep friday night thinking about it. First day was frustrating, I was the only one not fishing. Second day kinda the same. 3rd day I finally got some and 4th day was amazing, I had lot of action!! Fortunately I didn't have work until today so I had plenty of time to enjoy fishing.

Decent opener for me! Went to a small tribe that holds Brookies and browns and didn't get anything the first day. Went out a day later and got a small brown on a flying ant pattern I tied over the winter. First fish to catch on one of my own flys, so was pretty excited! Threw it on for fun cause there weren't any hatches going on but didn't fully expect anything to hit it haha

Not all of us target those 15lb pigs. I would prefer to catch me 4-6lb 'bows over steels. specially on the fly. plus a lot of anglers converge on a pool stacked with steels and seem to ignore rapids with bows and browns.

I only started fly fishing last summer. Being out on the water is half the enjoyment for me, especially on small trout streams. Greatful for anything! Especially on flys i've tied. But each his own, goodluck with those Chromers!

Come on man. Fishing is not just about finding the biggest and baddest fish in the water. So much more than that. Its a shame you gotta look down on someone else's enjoyment.

I'll catch those small stream brownies and brookies on a 2 or 3wt in tight cover, all day long. Not much wrong with that!

Anyways. I'll join the fun. Got out with my buddy Swany93 for those ever so enjoyable small stream trout. Got into a few browns! Here is one picture I snapped. I'm a bird photographer and have recently started bringing my camera and a 35mm 1.8 lens on the water with me. Makes for some good shots!

No luck on opening day either, but that's expected as it's my first season.

I made my way up bronte creek and was told by a farmer that I was on private property, so there's that. I wasn't even aware that waterways could be privately owned but apparently he had rights to the land under that section of bronte creek.

I've encountered that on Bronte. Fortunately the farmer seemed understanding and helped me get off his property.

You're going to be hard pressed getting into any fish with this rain.
