What Colours Work

Here is a couple charts to show Colour Visibility & Colour change at different depths



You can see what Lure colours & combinations penatrate the water at depths,

Also think about line colour,
Notice Blue or Green line is extremely visible to fish,
Maybe this is why hi vision yellow mainline is so popular,
We can see it on top but once it gets down it disappears rather quickly

I like the Seaguar or YoZuri Pink Flourocarbon leader line for jigs & diving plugs Flourocarbon sinks
& Ande Premiun Pink or Cajun Red Monofiliment for my top water plugs Monofiliment floats

Red Hooks disappear, they have nothing to do with looking like a bleading fish !

These are the most popular basic colours that work & everybody uses.
Red, Orange, Yellow, Chartreuse, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, White, Silver & Gold
Depending on water surface conditions & water colour & clarity,
"which I'll get into later"

Holographic & pearl colours work very well, "Lots of Flash"
Glitter & Flash will attract a fish faster than any dull flat colour.

Deep water jigging, trolling
Luminescent colours & Fluorescent, Red, Orange, Yellow & Green,
Work very well at depths, especially if you put dark spot or spots or stripes to give some contrast.

Topwater
If you only have 1 colour you can't beat Black, fish look up & mostly see a dark profile.

Glitter & Flash from the lure will attract a fish faster than any colour.

Pike & Musky,
Save Your Money Catch Moore Fish !

Get rid of all the Wallmart/Canadian Tire, wire leaders with the shiny snaps & Swivels.
Get coffee coloured titaimiun, stainless steel or braided wire leader of appropriate line rating,
Pike 20lb, Musky 60lb
Tie your 6' monofilament shock leader to your braid with the Albright knot
Then tie from monofilament to wire with the same Allbright knot
Use the Figure 8 knot to tie a ball bearing Swival & split ring or ball bearing snap Swivals.
Use a 12" length of titanium, Stainless or braided wire, you'll end up with
approximately 6" clean looking wire leader,
You can change your lures out with a split ring tool or use a snap Swivel.
Braided wire needs to be crimped a 7" piece should give you 6" crimped leader
