I'm done with Chinny till next year. My youngest son and I caught our fill on Saturday double digit day for both of us I went 10 for 10 at one point and had to take a break my arm was killing me. Did manage a real pretty brown too. I also donated a lot of gear by un wanted snags, I don't even try to bring them in just straight rod it and either pull hook out or line snaps. Fishing dirty water where there are lots of fish you can't help but snag a few. As for flossing that's one thing I will never be blamed for doing. I can't see my hook let alone bait  to save my life once it's in the water, couldn't do it even if I wanted to. The snaggers where out in force but ministry was called and did arrive just as we where arriving, officers asked for my license and asked if we caught anything then moved on down to the skinny water and all the snaggers, Was fun to see them trying to scramble away....lol. I also filled a bag with garbage in five minutes, what a disgrace!!

Knowing where you usually get your fishing...it has been getting worst big...a lot worst compared to the previous year. I used to drive there for some chinny fun even though i'm 5 minutes from the ditch. but now...i won't even bother as it's getting almost the same hordes in your alley...must have something to do that some anglers always say...your alley has better fishing and less crowds....I was out friday evening at my trib and was surprise to have a nice pool all to myself...it was pouring a bit and a little cool but that's the way i like it...after going 5/14...a few people came with heavy trebles ready for some "action" came asking how the fishing was...after I told them it's been slow and I don't think there's fish...a nice coho started jumping (probably one of my lost hookups)....

I fished Sunday morning at a pool on another trib all by myself, well other than my two kids..I only fished my home creek once this year, not a lot of people around but who was there was likely 50/50 fishermen to snaggers. Garbage was really bad though.

Ha ha.
I like your style Big.
It's like beaching a Volkswagen.
Lots of fatigue at both ends.
Couple more than enough.
When they're in thick fouled happens.
Amazing what they can see in the dirty.
November steel coming soon.
Enjoy guys.

We need some serious rain.

I couldn't believe how shallow the rivers are and it's even worse in the creeks.

Desperate levels for sure.

Hey guys - any tips on streamer shapes/styles/colours for chinnies in the tribs? I had a black/sparkle size 6 woolly bugger working alright this morning, but for the most part it seemed the big aggressive males were a lot more interested in attacking each other than my woolly bugger. Anyone have success with bright-coloured intruders or Kelly Galloup type streamers?

...and just by the way....we're talking about low and clear conditions here, since high and dirty hasn't happened yet this fall season...

The west trib I'm closest to hasn't seen over 1.5 m3/s yet really and I'm looking for like 3 or 4.

Fishing conditions this morning.
Stank, stunk, bites ass , low and clear water , Lots of chins on redds.
I'm sure the boys will clean them out tomorrow.
2 days of steady rain would help.

Sorry to hear that.
Two suggestions to minimize rod breakage.
NEVER lock down your drag setting .Either manually or mechanically.
Bring fish in with a side sweeping angle not a direct 90 degree tip to butt force.
Works for me.

Thanks FF. Do you just swing those intruders slow and deep like steelhead on the swing? Or do you strip them in fast to bring out the aggression/instinctual attack response? I've got a poly leader that works alright with intruders, but I find I need a lot more space for that than I have in most places on the West trib I'm closest too.
