Does anyone have any recommendations on a good spinner bait for Lake Scugog?

I tend to like a chatterbait or swimjiig more on scugog then a spinnerbait. May be another option for you

I fish a lot of blue gill coloured stuff, green pumpkins with some sorta of variation. White is a good starting point as well.

 

1/2 is probably going to be your best bet for all of the above mentioned baits.

1/2 - 3/4 oz spinnerbaits white-chartreuse.
But lots of thick vegetation at scugog. Use frogs, swimjigs, heavy tx rigs, punching rigs etc.

As for brands of spinnerbaits, i use strike kings. They are candy for bass. If your fishing a lake infested with hammer handles though dont use them. Pike will eat them up like no tomorrow and unless you got a heavy fluoro leader on or wire you will probably lose some

river 2 sea bling series spinnerbaits tend to be my favorite, really light titanium blades allow to be fished at any speed with little drag.

 

zman project z chatterbaits, I find they come through the grass better then most vibrating jigs. Good quality components too, just lets me fish them with confidence.

 

As for swim jigs Ive yet to find one Im super in love with... 1000 island customs made me a few that I like, beast coasts are nice for their tungsten head and quality components, Ive been fishing a lot of gambler stuff recently which I like,  and dont forget "the perfect jig".

So I tried aa 1/2 oz Spinner, I bought white and the charteruse color from Strike King. And they get stuck in the weeds all the time.

 

I've also purchased some salt infused pumpkin seed senkos from zman and a white live target frog and not a bite. I've used a few techniques Casting, letting the senkos sink and jerking twice then a slow reel, casting fast reel, casting and moving my rod up and then down, then reeling. But still no bites.

 

Can anyone give me advice? I've fished Goreski's landing and water street where the boat launch is.

Unfortunately scugog receives a tonne of pressure and bass fishing in the areas you mentioned can be difficult. It is a matter of putting time in to get bit.... You can rent a boat from the marinas in port perry which will give you the option to get on some less pressured fish

Thank you I appreciate your time and your help. Are there other lakes, rivers where I could go within an hour from Oshawa? I went to black river lake the other day, and I fished but still no bites. But I could hear and see fish come up out the water (4-5 times within 2hrs).

Update. Thank you all for the help. I caught a 7lb pike on the weekend. It was my first 'big fish' in a long time. It has helped me regain some confidence.

Nice! What did you catch it on?

Strike King 1/2 oz double willow lime green. I added a green plastic grub with metal flakes to the hook to make it a bit bigger. I've never caught a pike before, and found out the hard way that there teeth are very sharp.

Thank you! Unfortunately no more bites on the spinner. Fish must be moving into deeper water.
