I talked to a C.O about doing this and he said you absolutely cannot cast past the embuttment ie under the railway yet I see guys doing it everytime I go out. Thought maybe some folks need to be told this.

It gets kinda tricky and not set in stone but I usually follow the 100m(328ft) Dam rule just to be on the safe side.

If you're casting north of the rail...you are fishing on a close section...even if you're standing south of it. Simple as that. If you're caught, it won't matter where you're standing...what matters is where your line is when the CO sees you.

Have always found this rule kind of funny, it is very much a case to case scenario. Some CO's are fine with it while others (this year especially) seem to be cracking down on it.

Im personally fine with guys standing on seasonal borders and casting up (Obviously a dam would be a different scenario). Im also of the mindset that the river should be open all year to catch and release, but thats an argument for another day.

I agree these present zoning laws are crap.
Some rivers have a mile of open all year waters.
Others stuck with the from Hwy 2 to the lake rule.Basically are left with just the harbour open.
We all pay the same license fee.
Please give us the same open all year distance of water to fish!
Fair is fair.
