Hey all I am fairly new to KW area and have yet to give the Grand River much of a go. Couple times last year I stopped and took some casts from shore here and there but looking to actually get into some fish.

I've got some waders, and I've heard from some to just walk down the middle of the river and cast all around you like 360.

I grew up in Bowmanville so I am familiar with steelhead fishing - I figure this would be similar but shallower for the most part and with several species available.

Anyways I would definitely like to get into some nice browns but any action at all close to home would be nice. I usually just fish for bass and whatnot north of Peterborough area but obviously thats quite a long trip to make it out that 6way.

If anyone in the area or with experience fishing the Grand would like to give me some pointers or meet at the river and try our luck that would be great. I don't mind travelling within KWC or even Breslau or surrounding areas.

I would also be up for splitting a canoe rental with someone for the day and fishing that way. I did canoe the grand about 2 years ago but on a family trip where I was asked not to bring my rod lol

I'm also new to the forum. Now onto your post, I've been fishing the grand river for over 30 years, there so much to go after within this vast water shed. Pike, carp, sucker, brown trout, small mouth bass and yes even large mouth, forgot to mention all the pan fish.Conestoga river offers all the same including the rare walleye. You can use so many varieties and methods of fishing as well from bait casters, fly fishing to even Center pin. Now unfortunately bass season is not open for another month but the brown trout fishery is starting to pickup now that water temperatures are stabalizing and hatches are starting to fall. If you ever wanted to meet up just send a message. I would be down to share some spots and give some pointers. I've actually been contemplating the idea of starting a guide business of some sort.
