This may sound weird to some, but there has been one mystery that has always eluded me “catching a pike.†That’s correct I’ve caught many many fish in my days of fishing but the pike has always been the one fish that has always slipped by me. No matter what lure or bait I’ve never been able to catch that pesky critter of the waters. “Until now.â€
I woke up this morning at my trailer around 7am contemplating wether or not to go fishing. At 9:30 I finally said awe screw it let’s set the yak up and do some river fishing. There was a spot near my trailer I’ve never tried and figured it’s about time I did.
I got to the river set the yak up then my trusty spinning pole and a 6â€6 medium action bait rod.
And set out on my adventure.
While paddling up the river toward this big Lilly pad and tree stump infested section of the river I’ve heard stories about. I encountered 4 dear and plenty of turtles along this serene beautiful back woods drop but yet minutes from a town. All that hustle and bustle of city life faded away as I got further and further into this magestic wonder.
I crept my yak back into an area that no other boat could reach and tied on a 3 blade pumpkin spinner and just started casting at the edge of the lily pads and tree stumps, working the shore line.
All of a sudden bang my rod just went crazy and the fight was on. The first thing this fish did was come straight out of the water and that’s when I realized I had finally hooked into the one fish I thought I would never be able to catch. That pesky critter was finally mine. Turned out to be a 5-7 pound pike.
After that my heart was racing and I was still in shock after the shear amazement of fighting the one fish that had always passed me by. I took a few minutes to recoup and I was at it again tossing my 3 blade spinner. I ended up hooking into 3 more pike.
I called it a day at around 3pm and started paddling my way back just watching the beauty and serenity of my surroundings, thinking of what had just happened on this day. As all of this vast back country disappeared and the hustle and bustle of city life slowly crept back at me I was just thinking, “ when will time allow me to go backâ€
Once I figure out how to upload pictures I will post some
