#269008 First steelhead of the season and on the pin!

Congrats on the fish but yeah when they are on their redds most likely they are exhausted. Depends how long you fought it too. Right now just fish in the deeper pools. Thats where the drop backs are. They are hungry and fight like crazy.

You might want to try braided line too, zero stretch helps when you have a lot of line out but still need to set that hook quick.

I think we've all had these experiences at one time or another and Im sure many more if you continue to fish in the years to come.

Personally I would just walk away too not because I cant handle a brawl but because once I get angry and my blood boiling. I cant relax again for the rest of my so called relaxing fishing day. Too me thats just not worth it.

Now if someone was doing something really dumb illegally snagging harpooning ect. Than I would say something.

Fish on, peace

#221073 Funny Catch Today

Posted by point defiance on 08 December 2011 - 10:25 PM

Looks like a small chinny hen to me. Large spots on the back n tail. Tail looks beatup from digging redds.

Sounds like it was fun to catch even though its so small. Always nice to catch agressive fish. No matter what kind of fish it is.
