welcome to canada...the greatest country in the world. Good choice on souther ontario as well, great place to live!

i'm not too sure about the toronto area, but i'm sure it wouldnt be hard to pick up a fishing regulation guide from a local bait shop, or searching online, or even searching this website (or waiting for someone that knows toronto better) and then find out which creeks or rivers are good. I live about 30 minutes outside of Toronto, so I usually fish the creeks in Oshawa or Bowmanville, you'd be better off somewhere closer to where you live assuming you don't have a car.
Right now, your best bet is rainbow trout (steelhead) in the creeks, and if you have the patience, opening weekend is april 23, which opens up a lot of fishing area. As well, walleye and bass open in the next cpl months, so you'd have to wait for that.

I know this isn't much help, but I figured this might set you in the right direction. Hopefully someone that lives near you can help you out with some general fishing spots, as I don't live in that area so i'm not sure about spots. If you have a car, Oshawa and Bowmanville and Ajax have creeks, and is probably about 30-45 minute drive from where you are.

Anyways, welcome to the greatest country in the world. good luck fishing my friend!

In Topic: GAGNON SPORTS SALE

Hey guys, just want to let yo guys know that Gagnon Sports is having their annual tent sale again, I believe the sale is on until this Sunday. In the tent, they have a bunch of great gear for really good prices, (I ain't a shill either). I saw some nice Berkley and Shimano medium and light action rods on sale for $20-30$ (regular $50-70). I also saw some great neoprene chest waiters on sale for $60, regular price $120. As well, they have a whole whack of these "Daiko" rods from Japan, on sale for $10!!!!!!!!!!!!! (regular price $50), and they come in a neat little plastic tube and comes with a rod cover(a few different sizes as well, 2 piece and 1 piece, great for perch and walleye etc.). They also have a wide assortment of rain jackets, winter boots, hiking boots, hunting boots, etc for about 40% off. They also have lots of camping and general outdoors gear for about 40-50% off. Inside the shop they have lots more deals including these "Bakken" minnow crank baits from Japan, 7 for $19.99, we bought a whole whack of them, they look really great and should work amazing as well. I'm a big fan of Rapala and my tackle boxes are full of them, so I definitely know my crank baits, and these Bakken minnows are up to par for sure. As well, the entire shop has NO TAX on everything. I picked up a bunch of Berkley trout worms, pink and green, i'm so pumped that i'm gonna go out in a cpl hours and try them out at the creek. They also had a bin called the "looney bin" and there were all sorts of bass, musky and walleye soft baits and grubs for a buck, a very large assortment. So yeah, if you guys have some time, and are looking for a great sale, definitely check out Gagnon Sports in Oshawa. (on Bloor street between Park and Stevenson, right beside GoGo's pizza). I'm usually very wary of "sales" because that's when stores jack up their prices and THEN take off a percentage for the sale, but Gagnon's is a legit shop, my dad's been going there for years and I have as well, friendly people, great atmosphere and great employee's, I approve!

I was there yesterday and some of the clothing equipment they had were nice. Particularly, the eVent shell jackets. I think any fisherman/snowboarder/etc should invest in a good shell. If I didn't already put my money in my shell, I would've gotten one for sure. They had two different shells...some where $90 (normally $280) and others were $180 (normally $460).

Winter boots were a nice deal too...again, would've picked up a pair if I weren't already wearing the shoes I had bought around Xmas. The Shimano Compre rods were tempting too.

I ended up stocking up on floats, hooks, accessories for steelheading.

Same here, spent almost $100 on gear that cost $5 a pop. I purchased mostly steelhead gear as well.
I got...
- 2 packages of Berkley Trilene 6lb test (no tax)
- 2 packs of BlackBird Spawn netting, white and salmon (no tax)
- pack of Daiichi hooks (no tax)
- Chartreuse Berkley Gulp floating trout worm (no tax)
- Pink floating trout worm (no tax)
- Spider thread (no tax)
- BlackBird split shot (no tax)
- Daiko rod ($10) (reg $50)
- Shakespeare Ugly stick ($25) (reg $50)
- rainjacket ($40-80)
- shell jacket ($40-80)
- Flambeau carrying case, which includes 2 large and 1 medium tackle separator ($20)(reg $50)
- 7 Bakken minnow crank baits (7 for $20) (regular price $16.99 EACH) (No Joke)

I would also like to add that I saw a huge rack of those Shimano and Berkley rods that were on sale, I saw probably 200 rods, so they should still some by Sunday.
As for the "daiko" rods (the one in the plastic tube), they had a couple hundred of those as well, looks like the entire shipment is for the purpose of the sale.
As for the Bakken Minnow crank baits, they had about a thousand of those, so lots of those left.

Sunday is the end of the sale, but i'd suggest going there on Saturday, to make sure you get a better selection.

Amazing sale, anybody who goes there this weekend, let me know what you come back with, I know you'll walk out with a whack load of stuff if you go. I can promise you that.
