I love fishing in bowmanville, landed my first rainbow there! TBH when salmon and trout come along i like to still fish until the beer runs out (with roe). They really nail it in my opinion, and I've had more luck on row compared to fishing with lures. Not to say I don't enjoy using lures, nor haven't I caught steelheads on them. I've landed them on mepps and smaller spoons before (not anything name brand but they got the job done). Anyway go with what you enjoy most!
If anyone wants an update, I went here a week or two ago near the Holland landing. I fished some of the canals, and there was absolutely nothing. Perhaps I should have waited until now, or a week or two from now. Anyway, not even a catfish was caught.
