Any avid fisherman out there who can explain to me the patterns of carp. Why is it that during the warmer days, the carp are non existence during the 3 hour feeding frenzy from 6-9 while on cooler days they are all over the place. I am talking in regards to river openings like the Rouge river and the Humber River. I spent three days trying to catch a monster carp at the Humber mouth and not one fish. I was even further up stream where the marshes begin and still no carp. Any input?

Because of the irradict weaher conditions, should i now treat this mid may as if it was mid july and head further up stream?

If you go to Canadian tire you will find rubber fake pike lures. There is two sizes one large and one small. They are incredible for pike and I have caught walley, bass, and catfish on them. I personally use the larger ones but large pike will still go for the smaller version. The larger ones come in packs of 2. The smaller ones come in packs of 4.

Last year I caught a 28 lb Pike off the shores of Pembroke, Ontario on the Ottawa river. Another lure that has not let me down and landed me the 28 lb pike is the Giant Killer. Its a medium-large spinner. I believe it is mepps but they are also sold at Canadian Tire.

Between these two selections, if there is pike there, they will hit.

Hey everyone I am just wondering of anyone has any tips or spots that are good for pike in Lake Muskoka I am going home in 2 weeks and plan on fishing a lot but I have never targeted pike before.
