do all the tribs east here have spring and summer resident fish to fish ith the fly? i was told no by a guy at BP but i also was told there are browns. bows, small bass and such in all the rivers that i fish out east....any input on this...

There are lots of resi bows and browns, and if you look hard enough youll find some specks.
Smallies lurk around bigger pools with more structure for them to hide around i find.

You need to find the right creeks and rivers and some nice quiet spots where it doesnt usually get fished.

Yup the long soft hackle feather is much coveted...I am using some schlappen,select maribou,pheasant rump,and dyed mallard flank.Sail in T.O and elsewhere have a decent ,cheap selection of tying material... if you are in the area.I have started burning goose feathers but don't have much success splitting the shafts.!!???This method provides for very long barbules for spey type flies.Anyone out there have any tips on this?

Thanks ill have to look up that store since im in toronto everyday going to school. I have begun to get my fly tying stuff at grindstone angling since its not too far from me

I started fly fishing with a scientific anglers starter kit, great rod and i still have it.

I did also, i purchased the starter kit from BP and it did me well to learn how to cast easily. I lent it to a buddy whos now learning to fly fish but im fairly sure it was a 6wt.

Yup C.C. is on the color thing ...here are 2 examples of nontraditional spey flies that serve different water/light conditions.

Those are some awesome flies dude. I really enjoy the second fly as well! I have yet to try the intruder style fly either but that will come with time. And i have come to realize that the hackles i have dont seem large enough to use for speys .... back to the fishing store..

Me likewise--delayed getting more recipes up...time willing will get them up asap.

Not saying we couldnt do that, everyone obviously has their own things to do. But yeah I'll be looking forward to seeing them
