Back a few years ago we saw some goldfish, carp and there have been sightings of an unwanted pet piranha as some idiot released him into the lake. Not sure if he's still around or if he became pike bait. Hope this helps.

saw this on wfn channel watching flw outdoors show, they were using this alabama rig to catch big large mouth bass.anybody else ever see this before?
Yes I've seen it used first hand but refused to actually try it out myself because I see it as a cheater tactic. It looks like a crib mobile for babys or an umbrella without the cloth. Usually 4 - 5 [3/8- or 1/2-oz jigheads baited with swimshads] are rigged to this contraption. It is best used for catching bass which are sitting suspended and are usually quite difficult to entice with a single jig presentation. Since there are 4-5 jigheads usually used, the presentation resembles a school of shad and catching two bass at the same time is very common. You can easily swap out the jigheads and replace them with spinnerbaits and troll the rig instead of casting it out. Personally I think rigs like this ruin the sport of Bass fishing but thats my two cents. The only exception for me is using the two or three way spreader ocassionally when ice fishing. I have also seen something similar but yet different being used in the east coast for mackerall fishing. Hope this helps.

Send me a pm if you guys want to set up a group outing. I've used Bill's Ice Huts up in Virginia beach but haven't been back in quite some time. If he and his family are still running huts, they are A+ for service and anyone who holds a membership to any Union (Teamsters, ATU, UFCW, CAW, etc...) gets a discounted rate. I also know there is a fishing derby for some top notch $$$ prizes in February, I believe out of Barrie. A great experience for anyone that wants to get their kids out with them for a fun day on the ice as my friend has told me. Its a licence free event hosted by MNR but there is a registration fee for the family. LINK TO TOURNEY

Hi Guys and Gals,
I am a late bloomer and am JUST now learning how to fly fish which is pretty cool. My stomping ground would be the Nottawasaga river, Any advice on what rods to start out with? Oh and I am just learning how to tie my own flies...which will keep my busy throughout the winter
Hi there and welcome to O.F.F. Some time ago I posted a link in our fly Fishing category. Check it out amongst the others that are also there. Hope this helps, Rock

Give Gagnon's in the Shwa a shot. They are just off the 401 conveniently. Been in there in the past & never let down yet. Hope this helps, Rock
