#291034 2nd Annual OFF Outing...Geen OCT. 24-27

Posted by LogJam on 16 October 2013 - 05:40 AM

b/c of this forum, the "geen" is now a gong show, worst then bronte on a full run Saturday, was up there yesterday talked to a few people, all of them heard it was a good spot from this site.

(Naming Rivers: The naming of any specific river or tributary is not permitted in the publicly viewable general discussion forum. Instead, please refer to the river by the general area it is located, ie “East Trib”, “West Trib”, “GB (Georgian Bay) Trib”,)

this rule was completely forgotten or ignored when this "OFF trip" was started, or planed....

i find this very upsetting, and i have lost much respect for what the OFF forums were here for in the first place....

now woudn't that be great. I think its fine the way it is, i don't think there is any board out there with a special gallery just for fish lol. Logjam i don't think anyone will tell u where they fish, this comes with trust u have to know the person and fish with them quite often. This is open forums u are not just sharing info with members on this board u are sharing with millions other who browse just looking for information. Before u say ohh u want it all for your self well i have fished with a few members on this board and they know that i'm not that person. The othey day i fished and was hookin into quite a few fish i saw a gentleman struggling and he came over to ask me my set up. I had no problems helping him looked like he was knew into the sport as well. i showed him a few things even told him to come fish beside me and what do u know man hooks into hes first steelhead ever, i coud tel he was very happy. I think this site like many other sites shoud be about sharing tactics, bait, but leave the names and locations for your self to find out. my 2 cents many wont like it let em rip.

i know they "wont" tell people where they fish! but when i say i cought a fish on the grand.. it wont tell you where i was standing the moment i hooked the fish, or where i parked my car and walked down.. the name of a river doesnt tell a person much about where to fish... eg credit river... starts way up north past orangeville and end in lake O.. grand river same thing...
i like to see fish from other areas, there big difference from lake O fish then tho's from G bay.
even if no river name is given, people can say Northern Ontario. or east...ect..

but no location names or anything will also work.. i just like to see the other types of fish people get....

#216839 Zoo!

this may sound crazy, but i heard it from someone at work well we were talking about slamon spawning , he seems to think that the salmon that go in to the credit, bronte, almost all rivers on the canada side of lake O, are not returning to spawn, but just heading into the rivers just b/c the rest are...
he says the rivers on the u.s. side r the rivers that salmon spawn and actuly help the lake population, meaning the fish that spawn on our side dont really make up much or any of the salmon population in lake O...

seems kinda true, considering not even a male slamon can get throut PC park without getting gutted..

in a way he could be right, but i also think that threre has to bee alot that do make it to spawn, and hatch,

what does yall think about that???
(remember its not me thinking this crazy shizzz, just a conversation i had with another fishermen.)

#216285 bronte creek?

Posted by LogJam on 21 September 2011 - 09:20 PM

Why would you want to see the park closed? Wouldn't that just punish everyone because of some arseholes?

yes, it would... but the park does not need to be closed all year or anything.. just no fishing during first few (2-3) weeks of spawning run...
for eg, this year the water temps out in the lake were very strange this year, (got cold fast) with out much rain.

PC park is the first place they come a shore, low water levels and vast amounts of people are takeing their tolls on the fish population.

i would give up such a place for fishing for a few weeks if it ment better fishing for all in the long run...
i also think the fish would still be there and all over by mid oct...

we would gain more then we would lose...

I personly would like to see PC park to be a no fishing zone from the lake to the hi way!! (403 if im right) from sept 15 to last saturday of oct...
.(almost the same way you cant fish dennys dam at night in oct...!!!!!)
bronte creek is small compared to other spawning rivers... but the runs can be amazing...

yes i know its a park, public land "GREAT" fishing spot.. ect....(blah blah blah)
but i just dont think its worth the loss.

i love to fish, no matter where, no matter what kind of fish... and would like to see and hear about the future generation of fishermen/women!!!
i can always wait from them to pass PC (snagger) Park... and fish upstream, or wait untill the river in that area opens.....

we people of the public can only do so much ourselves.... and the MNR can only do somuch...
i would like to hear what the MNR would have to say about the situation and possible solutions...

what other solutions can there be??

(i would also like to see the dams removed in lowvelle park and in carsle.. i know the one fish ladder is not in use... pointless to have it...)

#216080 100% Guaranteed Salmon

Posted by LogJam on 18 September 2011 - 06:04 PM

A lot of people are saying that I am charging a very small fee.

If I am not mistaken, a day on a boat on Lake Ontario would cost around $100 per person. The boat ride itself is nice, and if you land fish that's great. You may or may not learn much about fishing that you can actually apply later on. I'm sure fighting a salmon out on the lake is fun, but maybe not as challenging and exhilarating as fighting one at the mouth or in pools.

With me, you would definitely learn a lot that you can apply to all types of fishing.

Still, I would not feel right charging anywhere near $100. As such, if you feel that you enjoyed your time and learned a lot, tips are welcome LOL

100$ is the avg.. i have been out with the "Salmon Doctor", and it was a blast, best fishing of my life...

it was amazing how much you have to know when running a charter.. and i learned more in one day of fishing then i have in 6 months of fishing....

#216078 bronte creek?

went 0/3 at bronte yesterday, didnt have any of the fish on for very long as I was pretty rusty with the pin. By the time I had it figured out again I wasnt getting any hits.

The river was PACKED though, ive never seen it that busy, the water was so low that the fish were concentrated into only a few pools with a ton of guys fishing each pool. I saw a bunch of idiots trying to net salmon on my way out so I stood right beside them and reported them to the MNR while describing their clothing lol it was pretty funny. Not that they were going to get one anyways with their dinky net but they were ruining the fishing for everyone else.

If you see anyone doing anything illegal on the river just stop right beside them within hearing distance and call the MNR, they probably wont make it out but it will at least scare the people into stopping what they are doing. 877-847-7667. And the best information you can give the MNR is a vehicle description/location.

i went 0/0 today... but was still good to get out there. were a few people out there. seen a few fish....;-)

also seen one guy with his 2 kids, trying to snag the fish. not even trying to fish for them... i stayed to watch and see if he was gonna hook one or not. then after a bit i just could not take it anymore....
he was trying to get his kids to spot the fish and then he would try to snag them, i stopped fishing and said to the man.." what your doing is wrong.. what you are showing your children is wrong. as a concerned person of the public i cant just stand here well you fish like this..I hope the ministry comes and finds you."
then man almost poop his pants.... i dont think anyone has ever talked to him like that before... and he knew i was pissed right off...... i noticed as i walked away he had stopped fishing... i hope for ever...

but i do feel better for the fact i said something insted of just walking away.... ( i didnt have cell phone to call MNR)
i hope this will inspire other to atleast try to do something.. if anything tell other fhisermen/women about it...
