W_boughner's advice is excellent. I have started using the Water Office website this year following advice from a friend. Combined with tracking weather reports, you'll have a much better idea of what to expect when you arrive at a river. Follow the forecast regularly for the area(s) you want to fish and keep track of when it rains, then keep an eye on the water office's charts for that river as well. It should help to predict when might be a good time to head out.
