Carp fishing - Day or Night?

15 March 2012 - 12:00 PM

Hi Guys,

What do you think about Carp fishing during day time and during night time. Are carp more active in the dark or when its light? Would appreciate it if some of you experienced carp anglers have any advise on time of day to fish carp!

Thank you!

Frenchmans Bay, March 2nd

Braved the winds and went out last Friday evening to Frenchmans bay to target Pike. It was WINDY and the water was moving fast.
My buddy and I managed to Catch and Release 2 pikes. Below are the pics:

As you can see, this guy was caught on a Rapala husky jerk using a steady medium speed retrieve. The pike was about 1.75 ft. long. I think it was a male, but I am not sure.

This female below was caught on a red & white daredevil spoon by working the floor in a stop-retrieve fashion. She was about 2 ft. long

If you look real close at the first smaller pike, you will notice red on the body a couple inches away from the tail....this is not the first time I saw bite marks/blood on pike at this location! Pike are known to attack each other.

Happy fishing!

Beginner needs some advise please!

Frenchman Bay in Pickering and Rouge River mouth:

Has anyone fished in these two areas around this time of the year, November?
What kind of fish did you catch and what bait did you use?

Any advises? I would like to give it a shot this weekend. I am new to fishing!

Thank you!
