I was thinking ....trout, bass, walleye. Plus any thing else i might catch in my area.

I am in Stoney Creek, will be going to Grand River, Bronte ,Beaver Dams, Niagara River, Hamilton Harbour?, And at least 10-15 days in thr Georgian Bay area ( Cottage ).

I was thinking about a Shimano Sedona Rod Reel combo, or Mitchel 300XE (6'6" or 7') Medium power, Fast action. Was wondering what line weight would be best for the above fish? Also what kind of line braided, etc.....

Also i will be fishing from "shore".

thanks.

I'm not a big fan of braid on a spinning reel. I use braid on all my baitcasters, and Suffix Siege 12b mono with 18 in 20lb flouro leader, on my spinning combos. Look at the Pflueger reels. There is a couple of them that buck for buck are far better than the Sedona. Also the new Rapala R type are a great deal.As far as a spinning rod, i like my Fennwick HMG.Sensitive and good backbone.
Just my opinion though.

In Topic: Line Counter Reel with a lever Drag

18 March 2012 - 01:48 PM

Hello and I'm new to the Ontario Fishing Forums.

My uncle stopped by the house the other day and was saying. He was talking to someone fishing in Georion bay using a reel that looked to have a lever drag with a line counter on it. I've looked high and low but can't find a reel with these two options combined on the reel. Has anyone seen a reel with these options together?

There are a couple of Manufacturers making this type of real Tha Daiwa Saltist and the Okuma Makaira are 2 that i am aware of.
