'Skis on the way to Collingwood?

02 July 2014 - 04:39 PM

Hey gents,

As the situation would have it I'm going to be driving up to collingwood for a bachelor party friday.  This means I can fish until about 3pm on friday anywhere on the way, or in Collingwood.  I wont have a boat, but I I'll bring the waders.

I'm specifically wondering about any potential Musky.  If anyone would be so kind as to point me in a direction of a lake/river they might be rumoured to inhabit I would be evergreatful.  I'm not so interested in fishing the gbay.   If there's no musky I Imagine I'll have some fun times tossing stuff in the rivers anyways :)

Tight lines

Got my PB steelie today :)

Short and to the point - Amazing fight, beautiful fish, beautiful day, out of the water for ~25 seconds and released to breed again.  I love these darn fish.

First bow on the fly and it was in London!

26 April 2014 - 05:55 PM

....but I won't tell you where ;)

So I went sucker fishing today and had some good luck going 4/5.  I tried czech nymphing but had no luck, once I switched to my #6 red/black woolybugger the game was on!

I ended up walking part of the water that I've never gone to before (despite living here a while) and came across a hole that looked beautiful.  I thought to myself 'if this was <insert steel river name> that would be a great run/pool for steelhead' - queue 5 minutes of throwing the bugger, slow stripping.....then WHAM.  My first rainbow on the fly (I assume its not a steelie as its a very, very long distance from any mainbody).

Take a look, released to spawn again (sat in the water while taking the pics, tried avoiding all the rocks!). She looks pretty skinny, wondering if thats from being spawned out - or just not eating alot.

Thoughts?

Regards

Stocked 'bows - suggested patterns?

15 April 2014 - 08:46 PM

Hey fellow fly-ers,

I'm getting ready for a fly fishing derby on Friday at a stocked pond and I was wondering if you had some suggestions for favourite patterns?

The pond is stocked with rainbows (a few different strains apparently) and I've seen a few pics of decent sized fish.

So far I've been tying a variety of buggers and stoneflies, i have a variety of streamers as well.   Do you have any other personal favourites?  I'll be casting from shore FYI

Thanks in advance!

(t minus 11 days to opener)

Some nice 'eyes from London

16 November 2013 - 08:36 PM

Got out to a new spot today, and I guess the walk paid off.

Fishing just at sunset and we hooked into 3 eyes, and had one splash right at the shore.  Using 3-4 inch livetarget bluegills.  My PB is the first picture :)

Both only out of the water for ~20 seconds, and released to breed another day.
