A day on the Thames(london) that reminded me why i keep going back...
15 September 2012 - 03:02 PM
What a day, woke up early and went down to the good ole thames river in london. I had one of those days that keeps you going back time after time. By the end of the day i was catching a little small mouth on every cast, so many i actually got tired of taking pictures.
I have to keep this short because my wife is waiting for me to get ready to go out to diner.
Cue the pics..............
First(landed... lost another big one on video) fish of the day and she was a MONSTER 11.6 pound carp.......
Followed up by the biggest white bass i have caught in the thames so far.....
Relocated to a different hole and on the first cast i caught this MYSTERY(to me anyways) fish, good size nice purple shine on the side..... 2 pics....
Cue the smallies.........
and the "biggy smalls" small mouth of the day..........
What a great day. If anyone knows what the mystery fish is could you let me know, i have been fishing the thames for 20 years and never caught one before.
thanks and good luck on the water.
note: I have 13 pics of the small mouth alone, thats before i got tired of taking them. Just posted a couple to share.
** I also have video of landing the 11.6 lb carp, catching the mystery fish, carp i got to shore that snapped the line, white bass, and the biggest small mouth of the day if anyones interested. I swear alot so i didnt post them.

Favorite Top Water Lures
14 August 2012 - 12:39 PM
Hey everyone,
"My name is blurred1, and i am a top water-aholic".
I am always looking to improve my top water arsenal and was hoping to get some good advice from members.
So post your favourite top water lures and setups so that i can try em out.
Don't be afraid to include pics and stories of the monsters you caught or lost on top water.
Looking forward to it,
TWA(top water anonymous)
Caught this 20 inch beauty fishing off the dock at my cottage. Nice overcast morning just after a night of rain. The lake was calm and this smallie smashed my '"wall mart discount bin popper" like a chuck liddel uppercut.
**Sad side note: I had another one around the same size not 10 mins later, got it to the stairs of the dock, and just as i got in the water to land it, spit the hook(i actually dove in the water and tried to catch it by hand...... fail)****

Fly Combo
14 August 2012 - 12:07 PM
Hey,
Im new to the forum and am interested in getting into fly fishing.
I have been fishing for years but have never done any fly fishing before. Was looking for some advice on reasonably priced fly combos for beginners. I want a good quality set up and am not afraid to spend money but i figure i should go for something reasonably priced to make sure i like it.
I fish for a wide variety of different species so i want something that is versatile and a good all around combo.
Any other advice you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Also don't be afraid to "pimp" me your used combo set you have for sale. If i can get a better quality used set up at a reasonable price i would totally consider that as well.
Cheers,
See you on the water.

New From London
14 August 2012 - 10:53 AM
Hello,
New to the board from london ontario.
I enjoy fishing of all kinds, and am looking forward to sharing some stories and pictures as well as learning some new tips.
My favourite type of fishing is topwater fishing of any kind. I absolutely love the rush of watching a lure get crushed off the top of a nice calm water in the morning or early evening.
Cheers and see you on the water.
