November Fishing Help

19 October 2012 - 04:18 PM

Since me and my buddies have all graduated university we now have some free time on our hands to do a little fall fishing! Only problem is I have never fished this late into the year before unless it was ice fishing.

The first weekend of November, 6 of us are getting together for a weekend of fishing at my cottage and I am curious if anyone has any tips on where the fish may or may not be at that time? Have the fish moved deeper at that time or would I find them in the shallows trying to use the sun to warm up? Is early morning and evening the best time to fish or is it too cold at that time? Thanks in advance for any tips I am hoping to show them a good time and get a few picture worthy fish to post on here! The guys I am going with are not avid fisherman so they would be fine with anything bass, walleye, perch etc its all good!

Great first night of the weekend

07 September 2012 - 09:50 PM

So tonight my brother and I went up to the cottage for a weekend of fishing. Our first weekend of fishing really this entire year because he has been studying for his MCATs. Well we got up to the lake around 5 and jumped in the boat at the marina to head to the cottage... battery was dead haha. The bilge pump is stuck on in our boat and drained the battery completely. After sending our dad into town for a new battery while we babysat the dog and drank beers we finally made it to the cottage and jumped in the fishing boat and head right out to the water. We decided to fish a few of our favourite spots and we hooked into a few nice largies.

here is a pic of the biggest one caught by me

here is another big one, not as big as the first however that we caught after we chased a few beavers around the bay with the trolling motor (we only wanted to see them smack their tails dont worry we werent trying to hit them)

Sorry that the above picture is a little bit grainy but all we had was a camera phone!.. Later in the night we went out again and my brother caught a bass that was almost identical to my second bass and we DID have a scale this time. It weighed in at 3 pounds 9 ounces. My question for you people is if my brothers fish was 3 and 9 and similar to my second fish, what do you think the first guy weighed? We both held them and estimated the first one at around 5 pounds (which is a monster up here and a personal best for me).

PS- caught on big jitterbugs, in shallow water with woody cover

Long weekend plans

31 August 2012 - 12:14 AM

Just wanted to start a topic to see if anyone has some big fishing plans for this long weekend.

I will be up at the cottage (Jack's Lake) trying out some new soft plastic techniques and hopefully getting into some fish! Pretty excited to try and learn a whole new way of fishing for me.

Soft Plastics for bass!

21 August 2012 - 06:25 PM

Hi everyone, I have always been a crankbait, topwater and spinner user trying to cover lots of water quickly and I have not really got into using soft plastics. I was wondering if anyone had some tips on soft plastic lures and techniques they would be willing to share for someone looking to target bass. I do my fishing in cottage country in Ontario if that helps narrow down which tactics work best.

Thanks in advance!
