Nikon L820 Quik Review.

27 September 2013 - 10:52 PM

I got this camera the other day because I was sick of using my older Kodak that had a Digital Zoom olny and it really sucked at taking a picture zoomed in or out and the picture always looked horrible, from what I read about the Nikon L820 from a few reviews I seen online and a camera Mag they were saying this is a great entry level camera that performs better then an entry level camera.

I'm not a camera nerd and don't know alot about how to use a real high end camera and that's why I went with this camera it's seem's to take fairly nice pictures and most people seem to like the pictures it takes and are impressed as well. One of the main reason's I got this camera as well was because I really hate camer's that use their own special battery and I find whenever my friends that have a camera like that the battery is never charged when you want to use it,the Nikon L820 takes 4 AA Batteries Alkaline or NIMH,with Alkalines it say's in the Manual 320 pics and it does not say how many with NIMH rechargeables but if you get 2300mah rated rechargeables they have the same mah as an Alkaline.I like the fact all I have to do is throw in some rechargables and when they die I have 4 Alkalines in my camera bag as back up's.

I got a Red one as that's all the store had and the guy was showing me a Cannon that had less feature's and was 529.00 and did not take as good of pictures and that was another reason I went with this camera.I would recommend this Camera to anyone who wants to take really nice pictures and is flexable and easy to use,it has a very powerful zoom as well,I was in Owen Sound harbor and could zoom in so close on a apartment building on the west side from 600 to 700 yards away the building did not even come close to fitting in the frame,I know that a zoom that powerful is not going to get used much but it is better then being under powered.

If you want to see the specs check out the link and check out the other link to see some pics of a catch me and my friend got not to long ago.

I paid $199.00 on sale from The Source and you need to buy and SD Card as well.

Just a warning if your buying from ebay.

30 August 2013 - 11:34 PM

I got a Shimano Shimano Stradic CI4F for 100.00 brand new that goes for 200.00 on Bass Pro reel and some Power Pro 30lb line from a seller on ebay.

My mistake however was buying it from a seller that had the stuff listed under a stupid program called ebay GSP stands for Global shipping program, what's supposed to be so great about the program is I pay for the items shipping and even the import duties all at once lucky me.

The seller olny had the option up for standard shipping and no fast services and I'm alright with that, but here's where everything get's really stupid,so I get my tracking number from the seller threw a message on ebay and when I try for days to track the thing I get a message from USPS that it does not have any records of this tracking number so I contact the seller many times asking for a working tracking number and he keep's sending me the same one saying it's working for him.

So I contact ebay and they tell me it's working for them to and I said why won't it work for me when I go to the USPS website and track it Oh no Sir your not supposed to do that with this tracking number the tracking number is in your ebay  Purchase History under the item and this tracking number will not work on the USPS website although that's who the carrier is so I said well it's not showing me the tracking in my ebay under the item, for some reason it never showed up in my ebay purchase History .

Then the phone Rep from ebay get's it to show up for me in my purchase History and I say to the Rep from what I can see when I click on the tracking number you just gave me my items just went 1100 Miles in the opposite direction from me(when I figured it out it was 1285 Miles)so I ask the phone Rep what's up with that and he say's it's eBay's policy for the item to go to the ebay GSP center closest to the seller to have the customs forms attached to box so customs will see that the import duties have been collected,I do mind waiting for stuff to come in the mail but I was really starting to loose it on the phone with the ebay Rep when he tells me why I think it's a stupid system,so I told him well for starters your telling me that it's faster this way to have my item's go 1100 Miles in the opposite direction from me that took 4 days to get to a ebay GSP center 2 more days for you idiots to attach a peace of paper on it then another 4 days of going in the right direction just to get the item's back to where they started from and on their way to me why not ship it to a GSP center on the way to me rather then away from.

From what ebay tells me the tracking number used in a ebay GSP shipment can olny be tracked threw ebay, and the really stupid part is the tracking number that's supposed to go below your item in your purchase history takes you to the USPS website with all the info right there talk about stupid,it's to bad the seller knew I needed to track the item this way and never told me this even after I told him I have tried many times copying and pasting the number in the USPS website he sent me in an ebay private message.

KME Sharpening System.

24 August 2013 - 11:21 PM

I had my KME Sharpening System out the other day and I though some of you guy might appreciate a review of this Product.

First I would have to say hands down better then Gatco's & the Lansky System's out there not even close to this one,I have owned the Lansky and Gatco ones before and just Hated them with a Passion the biggest problem with them is they a using a metal on metal contact to keep the Knife in the jaws of the clamp and the Knife alway's falls out no matter how many times you tighten it down or how tight you turn the screws.

The KME System comes with Ceramic Stones that do a really good job and I also got a Black Arkansas from KME as well and some got me there Diamond Stones as well.

The two best features of the KME System is that the Jaws have Neoprene Pads that really hold the knife very well and the other feature that really stands out is that the jaws rotate as well that way you can flip the knife over to Sharpen the other side really easily.Another feature I really like about the KME System is the Hollow Plastic Sphere the rod goes into it really makes a big difference and the rod does not jump around like the Lansky and Gatco Systems.

I just use the second coarsest stone on a New knife and then work my way down to the Arkansas Stone and I just use Vegetable oil for lube and you olny need 2 drop's on the stone and that's it and when I use the Arkansas stone I apply oil to it then wipe it off very lightly. If to much oil is used the knife will seem like it's duller then before it was sharpened and that's because there's just to much oil on the stone and it there's just to much of a Barrier between the stone and the blade,I lent my KME to a friend gave it back to me with his knives and told me to show him what he did wrong and when he seen I was olny using 1 to 2 drops of oil on the stone he thought it was not enough until I gave him his knives back.

I mainly use and angle of 20 to 22 degree's when Sharpening and the pocket knife in the Picture will shave my arm hair without any problem's at all so be be warned if you buy one and get really good at Sharpening be very very careful and I can not stress this enough because the edge is just like a razor.

The olny problem I had with my KME and it was a simple fix,the Neoprene pads glue is not very good so I took the jaws apart and went to HomeHardware and got some 15 or 20 minute Epoxy and glued them in place and everything is fine a year later, also everything in the KME kit is Guaranteed for life even the Stones unless you drop them.

The KME System is not cheap but well worth the money a few thing's to keep in mind are is that this is not going to Sharpen a Filleting Knife as they are not wide enough to stop the jaws from hitting the Stone because you would need to use the lowest angle you could,I use this more for kitchen and Pocket Knives and it does it very fast even with the Ceramic stones, just very light pressure is needed to much and you'll put a Burr on the other side of the and can be felt and seen when you flip it over to the other side.

Also everyone that sees me use my KME thinks I should use a sweeping motion from one end to the other and that's so and would take to long, you push and pull the stone back and forth toward the plastic bearing that holds the rod working you way toward the end of the knife.

Just google KME Sharpener to find out if you want to look into getting one.

Here is the Knife turned half way not all the way flipped over I wanted show the 2 Tit thing's that are sticking out just a bit on each side of the jaws there a 2 holes in the backplate of the jaws and that's what help's to hold the knife in place, the large Plastic Wing nut thing is what tightens the jaws down on knife, the black knob with the spring on it is what applies pressure on the backplate of the jaws to stop the knife from falling over when sharpening it you just turn the knob and your done.
