if you don't think it will happen look at georgian bay. All the charters have disappeared, salmon fishery has collapsed and rainbow will be next

i find it even more amazing that we've released millions and are only seeing 50 return
I'm starting to think there is more to it, i use to totally agree with you however from talking to anglers that commonly fish the credit. i would say at least 3 in 10 real anglers have caught them , as well as report seeing schools of 20+ fish. the fish run at such a a variety of dates that they may very well be going up to the darn, dropping the eggs and leaving due to the poorly oxygenated darn water. there are to many catches out in the lake to suspect there is only a 250 atlantics in the lake (assuming they live 5 years). just food for thought but I'm starting to change my thoughts about it.

one mistake i made when i was a beginner was just putting the shot in the right order from biggest to smallest. if you see your roe bag getting caught in the current and drifting a foot under you float you won't catch anything. for what its worth you could use a big ol egg sinker on the bottom as long as your bait gets to the fish, steelhead and salmon rarely will move much especially when pressured

gene management ? are you kidding lol a 15 pound hen is going to have one hell of time making the same jump as a 3 pound fish? also to further my point, are chinook genetically inferior to coho as coho can jump higher? there is a lot more to "good genetics" than jumping capability lol
one thing you guys are failing to understand is that isn't a natural drop! there is a concrete ledge under the water making it to turbulent for the fish to get power to jump.

that "ladder" is a engineered piece of garbage. in order to stop lamprey there is no need for a 3 foot jump. the chinooks have a hell of a time getting over it aswell
