I am super excited to meet some people as obsessed as I am ...

like a reverse support group -ha !

Question - are some of you guys really staying over? Sleeping in a car? Motel? I hope to make it saturday evening - sunday all day.

Disclaimer : I fly fish for resident trout, and I will by then have float fished twice / maybe three times.

I have never hooked one, I am hoping some tips from the pro's will help me out! :)

I've stuck to resident trout with my 5/6 wt fly rod. But instead of dropping wayyyyy too much on a spey / two handed rod for salmonoids - I am picking up a float rig (okuma rod/reel, thanks iJay  ) for less than 200 bucks!

Now I get the flexibility, pleasure and hook-ups of both techniques, and I will be able to try both for whatever fish I please.

I would love to see the battle though! Definitely something I would tune in for. Maybe at the OFF meet-up

Edit:  I am curious - if guys are saying pinners will succeed in the long run, what are the metaphysical / pleasure benefits of either rig? Is it more of a challenge (and how) to catch these bigger fish on a fly rod ?

Thats super frustrating,

Waterloo region had a very severe thunderstorm a couple weeks back, certain intersections had the power go out - people were getting out of there cars and yelling at each other because apparently no one understands the concept of a 4 way stop.  Anyway, I go to the police station which is literally ONE, count 'em, ONE block down from this particular intersection.

Wait 20 minutes, while the mild natural disaster rages on outside - some officer spoke with me, told me "out of our jurisdiction", to which I replied "isn't it your duty to you know... help people?"  Response? "Sometimes people have to know to help themselves".   What the love? Seriously?

All the while a fully uniformed officer is cleaning an office window with some windex.

Seriously, I really dislike most police services.  I fish the MNR was more helpful. That blows.
