Just got delivery of the reel I decided on..went with a red truck diesel 7/8..
Super sweet ,classic looking click and pawl
Balances the rod really well..going to line it with a switch chucker #4
Can't wait woohoo!! image.jpg 193.56KB 103 downloads
Our cat Lou likes it too hahahaha

Although new to steel heading ,thought I would share my opinions..
First purchase was the Clarus 13' worked well for the heavier leaders and landing salmon, but
As I went to lighter leads, 8,6, and especially 4lb, I ended up losing the fish on break offs..
Purchased the 13'6" guide select, reasonable entry level price and rod, and it was night and day..
Completely different feel and my landing ratio skyrocketed:)
I haven't had the chance to try higher end rods, but one day I'm sure I will..
Hope my 2 cents helped a little

So far it's been quite slow..looks like the fish are winning
The ones I've seen landed are beautiful tho..anyone else's thoughts or comments?
