if you want to swing that way, I could say using scents does not make you a real fisherman, because a real fisherman would be able to use his skills in the art of bait presentation to induce a strike

 

just because im a fly fisherman for trout does that mean i have always been a fly fisherman? my opinions don't matter on a subject?  i fish with lures all the time, just for other species, and can say i have caught more fish in one summer(600+) using a white 3" mr twister with either a red or yellow/orange 1/4 onze jighead, so please, do not disrespect my opinion on using scents.

Then why are you weighing in on scents? Fly fishermen rely on a fishes sight and never experiment with taste or smell. Fly fishing isn't even so much about catching fish and more about the art so I respectfuly say your opinion is invalid
